Equality and Better Treatment Sought for Lung Cancer Victims
“As an emergency physician, Dr. Michael Weitz battles illnesses to save the lives of others. In his own personal fight with lung cancer, he is battling the stigma that his disease carries.”

Medical: Doctors Not Always Forthcoming with Test Results, Prognosis
“Does your doctor tell you everything? Or should you assume, after medical tests, that no news is good news? A new study suggests that may not be the case. It found that doctors and their staffs fail to tell patients about abnormal results on tests 1 out of 14 times, on average, and in some medical groups, 1 in 4 times.”

ALK Inhibitor Has Dramatic Results in Lung Cancer Patients
“About one in 20 lung cancer patients has a previously unsuspected molecular change in their tumor that is driving their cancer: a breakpoint in the tumor's chromosomes called an ALK fusion protein. This molecular change has now been matched to a new oral drug called an ALK inhibitor, which is having dramatic results in the patients who have taken it in clinical trials so far.”

“GIA announces the release of a comprehensive global report on Lung Cancer Therapeutics market. World market for non-small cell lung cancer therapeutics is expected to reach $13.3 billion by 2015 fueled by rising incidence of lung cancer, improved understanding of non-small cell lung cancer, and the development of new treatments targeted at growth factor pathways.”

Psychiatric symptoms may be first indication of cancer
(Reuters Health) – “New research suggests that for some patients with cancer, especially brain tumors and small-cell-lung cancer, the first manifestation is a psychiatric symptom.”
